Our newly adopted 8 year old son, Dartanian wet the bed every night sometimes twice a night for the four years he was in foster care. Multiple specialists said it was all trauma based but others pointed out that this is a myth and that bedwetting stems from a deep sleep. When we started this program, my 12 year old daughter wore a pull-up every night because she is a very deep sleeper and would always have an accident. Dear Mr. Sagie, Today has been a very special day: this is the 1st anniversary of the day my 13 year old son has had his last bedwetting accident and there has been none ever since then! By now, fortunately it is hard to recall when all of us in the family were rather concerned as to when we will find the ultimate solution to get past these unpleasant incidents of my son’s nightdreams. It would take loads of articles to tell authentically how hard we have tried to get rid off the pull up pants. 11 year old son with Development Dyspraxia and Wore NightPants Every Night – Dry Now and Forever!
I live in New Zealand and my 11 year old son has worn night pants every night since he was out of nappies (diapers). He has a younger brother (who is 8) who never had any issues (so it does not run in the family). I am writing this review on Amazon to help promote this program as it has changed our lives. I purchased the TheraPee program directly from Dr Sagie’s website in 2015.
I bought the product online and it was delivered to our door as expected. I made sure that myself (and my son) put the night pants out of view but did not throw them away as a ‘just in case’. My scepticism was high. My son and I logged into the interaction online site of TheraPee that evening after school and started the program straight away.
By the end of two months, my son was dry most of the time. Even when he was dry 3 nights in a row, we couldn’t believe it and held our breaths. By the end of the third month, he went to his first school camp and was dry the whole 5 nights away. However, when he came home from camp, he wet his bed over a few nights. But, a few more exercises were started as part of the program and he went to another camp for 5 days a few weeks later – we held or breath – and he was dry the whole time. He didn’t want to take a mattress protector with him which was the first time he had expressed his determination himself. Another two months have now passed and he has never wet a bed since. He has now finished the program dry and happy. He has even woken up in the night to go toilet a couple of times – which he has never done in his 11 years previously.
This was never a matter of my older son being lazy (although – I did think this constantly at the beginning). 6 out of 7 nights he had a full night pant in the morning. The catalyst started when my son had been invited to his first school camp. I had to find a long-term solution as he was getting more and more concerned and really wanted to be dry for the camp. He had never wet himself during the day. This program is not for the faint hearted – and is not for you if you only want to commit ‘for a day or so’. You have to commit 100% for a long time.
My son loved the online interaction and the chart system. The exercises were great as it really was a program for long-term and helped me realise that this would last the distance and definitely wasn’t just a ‘money making program’. I think the price is value for money. My son did not notice the mat at all to sleep on (and with his dyspraxia can be sensitive to such things). The alarm was upsetting to all of us due to waking up in the night when he had wet the bed – but this was part of the process and over time this probably helped the most. The sensitivity of the mat can be adjusted – which was brilliant.
The product surpassed my, my husband’s and my son’s expectations. The team at TheraPee were professional and always responded to my queries via email within approximately 24 hours – great support from the other side of the world.
I have recently seen our doctor and advised her to mention this product as another choice for children and their parents to try, rather than ‘medication’ or other such things.
